The two only meet when it's a must but when they do, they go through several misadventures that lead them to reevaluate their lives and discover the special meaning they hold for each other.。犹太裔奥地利人罗生特毕业于维也纳大学医学系，经历过第一次世界大战和德国内战，被纳粹逼迫，家破人亡；从此他踏上了中国土地，开始拯救在战争中飘摇陨落的生命，见证并记录战争时期中国所发生的感人故事。。“五·一二”大地震发生时，绵阳市北川县受灾尤为惨烈。在震后重建的日子里，很多北川人都在地震中失去了自己的亲人，兰辉失去的是他最亲爱的母亲。然而震后重建工作迫在眉睫，兰辉只能把对母亲的怀念掩藏进了深心处，整个人扑到工作中去。车轮上的县长每月要跑6000多公里，却最终殉职在了路上。扶丧之日，北川县的百姓自发走上街头送兰辉走完最后一程。。
