改编自Daphne du Maurier的小说Jamaica Inn Set in 1820 against the backdrop of the windswept Cornish moors, the story follows Mary’s journey when she is forced to live with an aunt at the eponymous inn after the death of her mother and discovers it to be the hub of a smuggling ring.。沼田家是一个四口家庭。父亲孝助（伊丹十三 饰）和母亲千贺子（由紀さおり 饰）对两个念书的儿子给予了殷切希望。长子慎一（辻田順一 饰）学习用功，成功考上了一流的西武高中。这之后一家人又将希望全部寄托在正读初三的次子茂之（宮川一朗太 饰）身上。 然而茂之的成绩并不好，接连请了几个家教但收效甚微。正焦急之时，三流大学的学生吉本胜（松田优作 饰）前来应聘。随着这个有些怪异的家教到来，茂之的成绩开始有所提高…… 根据本间洋平同名小说改编。。
