Fårö Document 1979 is the ten-year followup to the first documentary Bergman made about his adopted home, Fårö, where he filmed many of his best works and lived until the end of his life。林小冉被迫答应杜衡做替身嫁给已毁容的薄谦之，入住薄家后。薄谦之识出妻子真实身份，假扮弟弟骗取她的信任，从她身上获得了久未感受到的温暖。林小冉无意间得知薄谦之没有弟弟的存在，她希望薄谦之可以活得轻松点，薄谦之对她仍是十分防备，真相一层层剥开，更大的阴谋席卷而来。。
