机械厂女工章兰香（王雅捷饰）的幸福生活，被一场意外彻底打破：副厂长王友谊与馄饨摊主沈凤妹争执推搡，劝架的丈夫白新年与王友谊一同被卷入车流，遭司机黄大河驾车撞倒身亡。弥留之际，王友谊将幼女托付给章兰香，她毅然应允。王友谊之妻赖桂珍起初因流言误会章兰香，真相澄清后两人冰释前嫌，章兰香正式收养女孩，取名章花海。不久，沈凤妹病逝前将叛逆女儿沈水月托付于她，章兰香扛起抚养三个女孩的重担。她不知，花海生母华娟娟（王友谊旧识、自己曾徒）正因谋划嫁入豪门，刻意躲避寻亲，甚至为扫清障碍暗中栽赃。这场意外也改变了他人命运：黄大河丢职离婚，发小卫峰与妻子郝丽君离婚后，郝丽君将失意归咎于章兰香，矛盾不断。生活的磨难接踵而至：沈水月认定章兰香“间接害母”，蓄意报复；女儿白天因家变叛逆厌学。章兰香绝境中振作，从摆馄饨摊起步，靠特色辣椒酱立足，在黄大河的默默相助下开起“海天月”...。We follow the hits and (more often than not) the misses of two hapless, dead-broke contract killers who frankly, are more of a danger to themselves than to anyone else.
