2017年に初演された同名舞台を映画化した本作。親友を亡くした引っ込み思案の女子高生・穴森一穂が1通の手紙を受け取り、謎の転校生が待つ夜の校舎へと向かうさまが描かれる。。On a holiday in the mountains, an estranged father and son get to know each other better. Sheltered by the rocky landscape, Michael believes that he and his son are safe from the outside world, which is crumbling under the impact of environmental destruction and economic crises.。二战结束后，曾在法国参加作战的印第安土著Jimmy Picard（本尼西奥·德尔·托罗 Benicio Del Toro 饰）住进了堪萨托皮卡军事医院。这家医院以专业医治脑病而著称。Jimmy Picard罹患多种疾病：眩晕、短暂失明、失去听觉……由于找不到任何器质性病变，医生将其诊断为精神分裂症。但医院仍然决定请法国专门研究北美印第安文化的人种学家及心理学家Georges Devereux（马修·阿马立克 Mathieu Amalric 饰）进行会诊。。
